It seems like the country and americana stations listed in iTunes plays either Shania Twain or songs about more of Jesus and less of that Rock and Roll.

I've been unsuccessful to find an good online radio station that plays artists like Steve Earle, Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Ryan Adams, Wilco and "older" stuff like Johnny Cash, Kris Kristoferson, Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons etc.

Suggestions?

you're right - it really [censored] is - 90 percent of my alt. country from playlists was coming from Digital Cable TV music, but they cut that channel from my area recently.

I eventually ended up at www.live365.com (http://www.live365.com) - download the free client or just cough a couple bucks for a membership - then you have hundreds of pre-programmed radio channels with several hrs on there, and alt/americana country is a common topic, with all the cross genre.

Who could be better suited to answer a question like this than someone named Whiskeytown? /images/graemlins/smile.gif Thanks, I'll check 365 out.

Rhapsody has an alt.country station but it pretty much sucks. Shoutcast has an occasional few that pop up now and then.

You might also google KCUV out of Denver. Last time I checked they had an online stream and were playing a lot of that kind of music.

I thought this was a joke given your name. Go here (http://accuradio.com/country/) and click "Twang".
