View Full Version : rake makes all the difference in low limit games

I feel that in low limit games, ($5-$10 and below) game selection and lower than normal rake makes a big difference in long term results. In Detroit we have a 10% rake up to $6 max +$1 bad beat at Motor City. I dont believe this game is very beatable, in the long run. However, the games in AC are 10% up to $4 no bad beat. This couple dollar difference really makes a big difference, especially in the long run. I prefer to play $3-$6 in homegames with $3 max rake than $5-$10 at the casino for $6 max.

umm...ok

anyway:

if you're playing online ring (i.e. Party Poker), rake avgs:
2/4 ~$1.00
3/6 ~$1.50,
5/10 ~$2.20
10/20 ~$2.70

Plus, you should have at least 25% rakeback.

In Greektown it's $5 max and $1 for bad beat.

Commerce:
2/4: $2.50 + .50 bad beat flat rate no matter pot size
3/6: $3.00 + $1 bad beat flat rate no matter pot size

Hollywood Park
2/4: up to $3 + extra button post for bad beat
3/6: I think it is the same, I don't like it there.

Compared to party poker, this seems downright oppressive.

6-max games were hit with higher rake, yes. Not ring.

I'm a part time beginning player I probably play less than 5 hours a week. Over the last 10 months or so I'm down $720.
I checked PokerTracker and of than 720 about 620 of it is rake!

Ouch!

I think the $620 is all raked hands you have played in. I.E hands you have lost as well as won.

Is that correct??
