This is my first hand post. Trying to win 300 bb at each limit level starting at 1-2, this is one of my first 2-4 hands (since I restarted limit). I really want to focus on doing the right thing, instead of just feeling my way through games. In 1-2 my stats seemed to indicate that I wasn't trying to steal blinds enough.

Here's one of my first attempts with marginal hands in limit. Was this an appropriate raise pre-flop against an unknown player? Should I have raised like I did on the flop, or just called, or even reraised?

Party Poker (9 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
6 folds. Hero bets, SB calls, BB raises, Hero calls, SB calls.

(9 sb)Flop: 6/images/graemlins/heart.gif, T/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 8/images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, SB folds, BB reraises, Hero calls.

(7.5 bb)Turn: J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
BB bets, Hero raises, BB reraises, Hero reraises, BB calls
.

(15.5 bb)River: 3/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls

Final Pot:

Results in white below:
BB has As Ad (one pair, aces).
Hero has Qh 9h (straight, queen high).
Outcome: Hero wins $67 from the main pot with straight, 8 to queen.

I had to fill in some of the stuff....couldn't get the hand converter to say what anybody did except for SB. Copied it straight outta PT.

Edited my retarded response since I can't even read the board when it is in front of me on a PC.

Nice hand.

With your gutshot plus the flush draw I usually raise this flop, but it depends as I like to keep the third player in the pot to hopefully call one at the turn, and he's very liable to fold to coldcalling 2.

God I've been in front of this computer too long.

I dont like the flop raise since you are playing a drawing hand, and by raising you are effectively killing SBs chances of getting involved in this hand, which just lowers the chance of expected payout.

I like everything else though, including the PF raise.

I'd cap the flop. You have a huge draw (double-gut + FD + iffy overcard) that does fine HU, and a lot of hands (incl. overpairs) may check to you on the turn, allowing you to check behind.

vnh. Well played. I like raising the flop. The pot is 9 sb preflop and you want to get rid of the other opponent by raising. Hands like KQ AQ QJ, A9 could fold and give you some extra outs. If the turn is checked to you and you do not imporve I would take the free card. Luckily you didn't need to do that. Nice aggression.
