Mouse Skipping

My mouse is skipping - prob something wrong with the ball in it. How do you take it apart and fix this?

1. Remove the mouse cord from the computer.
2. Lift the mouse.
3. Place mouse in trash can.
4. Say "Why do I have this old, ball mouse? I found it next to my 8 track tapes and Beta tapes."
5. Purchase optical mouse from local computer store for 20 bucks.
