50NL 6 max

Villain a bit too loose but decent.

Villain has me covered. I have $80.

Villain limps in CO; I raise to 2 with red 99 on button. We take flop heads up.

Flop: K /images/graemlins/spade.gif, T /images/graemlins/spade.gif, 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif

Pot 5.5

Villain checks. I bet 5. He raises to 15. I push. He calls. I lose to a flopped str8t and want to make sure that the bet/3bet all in is generally the correct play here as it is with a monotone flop.

If you are playing against a weak tight opponent and can confidently put him on a flopped str8t when he raises, what line would you take?

this is kind of a bad beat post but here we go. Even if you know he has the straight you are pretty much right to go all in considering the dead money that is in the pot as evidenced in the twodimes table below. Since you don't know that, you are almost certainly ahead here more often than not, and some of the time will have opponent drawing really thin...a decent portion of the other times you'll be up against a combo straight/flush draw which is a significant dog to your set.

Bet/3-bet all-in is OK with me. The board is coordinated, and there is a possible FD out there. Getting your money in ASAP is necessary IMO, because if a J /images/graemlins/spade.gif or something of the sort comes, you will be faced with a difficult decision.

My read would have to be very strong. I would more likely put him on K10 or maybe KQ. If I'm fairly sure he has a straight, I would call and reevaluate the turn.

I lose my stack here as well, but I suck at poker.

Sorry if it strikes you as a bad beat post. I thought it was the right play at the time and just wanted reassurance that it was. And so thanks for replying.
