View Full Version : dan druff revisited

09-06-2005, 12:17 PM
Reading the posts regarding "dan druff" made me laugh, not because their content was so funny or original, but because of the amount of "Chadetts" on here loving to bash someone who accomplished what they, in all probability will never do.

The man placed 3rd, and actually was the winner in another wsop event 2 weeks apart, yet most of the posters seem to negate that fact and go along with espn's and Norm's editing of the guy.

I could guarantee you that television could edit Dan harrington to look like the biggest jackazz there is. I would also venture to say that if it was Gus Hansen depicted the way Druff was, NOBODY would say boo.

Even with the editing I dont think what he was doing was so out there. Would anybody think twice if this was done in a home game? Oh yeah, we must put on a front b/c it's tv.

I've played with druff at the 30-60 on PS, and he was nothing but a gentleman. SO to all you haters, until you're in that situation you never know how you will act or be depicted, so be careful.

Hi Dan,

You're right people are being too hard on you here. Just the other week I was at a casino and got heads up against a guy in a hand, well my seat didn't have a cover but I sure as hell remembered to bring my jacket. So I stand up on my chair (I wanted to add my own flair) and start swinging my jacket around yelling 'JACK JACK OF SPADES JACK!!!!!!'

Everyone thought it was great and thought I was the coolest person ever. I don't know wtf the people here are getting on your case for.

If yelling for cards and swinging around chair coverings is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

I guess it would nt mean anything if I said I wasnt druff, but whatever.

I started this thread 30 mins. ago and have already received 7 replies. Maybe you fellas should think about doing something more productive with your lives like, err...getting a job, than being drawn to threads on a chat board, like dogs to girls on the rag. Oh yeah, the high schools dont open till Thursday in my area, I guess that is the same for where you live.

Druff acted like an idiot. That doesn't mean he is an idiot 24/7 or that he will act like an idiot next time he is on TV. I suspect he won't.

While I think a lot of the crap that people gave to Dan Druff was idiotic, did you really expect to convert people by starting a new thread saying "don't pick on my friend/person I worship as a sun god he rules and you don't".

It's a fight not worth fighting.

No deaperation, actually this thread is not about druff (whom i never spoke to or chatted with, other than maybe "nh") but about these lame azzes who like to put others down for no other reason then it makes themselves feel better.

Not one of these people said anything like " he was portrayed as a fool, but he still finished 1 and 3" It seems that when that when there is an easy target, peole go for the jugular. I wonder if these same critics had any comments on Josh Arieh's behavior in last year's WSOp. My guess is no, b/c though Josh acted like an azzhole, he was cocky about it, and of course, his girl was smoking. So what would be the point, couldnt bring that dude down no matter what you say. Therefore they wouldnt feel better about themselves. Druff, being on the internet, much easier to get under his skin (IMO), and get a reaction.

I always side with the underdog.

Dan has SO many, "I'm not him" supporters, it's uncanny.

He was a jackass, period. Good luck to the guy in the future - he's a good player, so hopefully the next time he's in a similar situation he'll handle himself accordingly.

So many "im not him" supporters b/c anyone who says anything positive about druff is accused of being him, under an alias.

Im not a "druff supporter" just someone who had a little time on his hands, and gets annoyed of the sheep mentality this site exudes. It's the guy's first time on TV acting foolishly exhuberant in a pressure situation and gets crucified for it. It just appeared to me that one flame perpetuated another and so on.

Look at it this way, Druff is now identified, while all of the negative flamethrowers remain annonymous, how much balls does tat take?

[/ QUOTE ]

That's sort of true...

He came on here and said that he wasn't a bad guy--no tirade like in the ostensibly fake David Williams post though. He conveniently didn't address his comments to Demetriou and did not really apologize.

While he came off as worse than he probably was on ESPN, he was enough of a jerk to appear that way when edited. Based on how he looked to himself when he watched the ESPN broadcasts, he cleaned up his act significantly. Apparently he's now the real poker gentleman that Phil Hellmuth was not able to be.

So, he didn't really take responsibility (IMO), he did change himself for the better which is something.

I haven't seen Dan's antics, but it doesn't sound good...

Well I'm also a fan of anyone who uses "its lame to insult people" as a reason to insult people.

For the record , I know I often register a new account on a forum for the sole purpose of starting threads to defend some random person who I don't know and have no reason to care what anybody else thinks about said person.

ok, I lied about seeing the Mouth, but I can almost guarantee you that if I did see him at the movies, he wouldn't be as bad as some of these folks make him out to be.

and hell, I almost forgot about that time Dan Harrington was running down the airport corridor with his arms full of luggage, and this fellow says, "hey, Dan, how about an autograph?"
You know what he said, this is unbelievable! "Sorry, I've got to catch a plane."

He acted like a complete loser. That is a fact. Does that make him less of a poker player, of course not. he definitely did what most of us will never do, but that doesnt make him less of a tool. The way he swung his jacket around was very dorky. And since he was on TV we are making fun. That is the price you pay when you go on TV, you can look really cool (like ivey) or you can come off as a jerk (like arieh last year) or you can come off as a nerd (dandruff).

He CHOSE to play in an event that was going to be televised if he made it to the final table. he put himself in the public eye and has to deal with it. Let him make a final table next year and not act like a dork and people will slowly forget about it. most people have already gotten over ariehs antics.

2 things make me hate this guy:

1. He pulls continuous bad beats on people (remember QJ v AA?) and decides to dance around like he just made the play of the century. When he is beaten in a hand it almost looks like he's about to cry.

2. His post-game interview. "I am a very well known online player" - ummm, ok. "But now everyone knows who I am" - ummmm, tool.
