Thanks alot.

Check-out fatwallet.com and gotapex.com. Gotapex.com has new Dell laptop coupons almost every day and they seem to be just as good as the ones at fatwallet.com (sometimes better).

I just bought one a few weeks ago with a 35% coupon, but you can likely find a 40% if you have awhile to wait (though it seems you don't). In addition to the suggested sites, try googling for 'dell coupon code.' You'll get a whole lot of junk sites but you may very well find some useful ones as well.

In my experience, the best source for Dell coupon codes in the Dell forum at www.notebookforums.com (http://www.notebookforums.com) . Look for the sticky thread at the top of the "Dell General" forum.

Is it me or does the 40% off on select Dell labtop deal stinks?

I too was looking for laptops but the Dell site doesn't list the resolutions for their models. I need at least 1600x1200 for 4-8-12 tabling without overlap. Anyone know what the minimum I would need for this setup would be? I'm thinking an inspiron 9300 would be the way to go. TIA.

They definitely list the resolutions for each model and screen option available. It is probably listed under the Technical Specs.

None of the Dell laptops will do 1600x1200 unless you upgrade the screen. DO NOT FORGET TO UPGRADE! The models that offer a 1600x1200 option are the 9300 and 6000 (and maybe the small one). With a 40% or $750 off coupon you can't beat it.

thanks. So basically, I can get the lowest end of the 9300 or 6000 to still run 1200x1600 as long as I upgrade the screen?

Hi --

Quick points

1. Get the WUXGA upgrade. I think the Inspiron 9300 has 1200x1900 res while the 6000 has 1200x1600.

2. You may want to upgrade the memory. Often, in order to use the code, you must add on features so that the total price is above a certain threshold. (Memory and screen upgrade usually accomplish this).

Yes, however you should definitely upgrade the memory to at least 512MB. This can be done by Dell at the time of purchase or by you using aftermarket memory. The amount Dell charges to upgrade to 512MB isn't worth the hassle of doing it yourself IMO. If you want to upgrade to 1,000MB of memory then Dell gets a little expensive and aftermarket is the way to go.
