View Full Version : TD 2-7. So, I made my rough 7, now what?

So I made my rough 7 on the last draw (Did I even have odds to call here? I think I'm likely OK if I make a 7 since D smooth-called and stood pat, but my 8 is unlikely to be good.)

C is an aggressive player who somtimes stands pat a bit rough.

D has been tangling with me all night and knows I like to check-raise.

What should my plan be for the last round? I bet because getting it checked through seems likely and would be a disaster. But, this will likely only result in 1 BB profit since C should not overcall. So even if I do not check/raise, check/call might be more profitable than betting out.

Second Round:

I'd consider raising in this spot since it seems like C is going to have a rough hand he might (though unlikely) break and D will often fold a bad one card draw (which is seeming likely at this point). This is horrible advice if you think D actually has a good one card draw.

Third round: To me, this is a really easy call. If it gets raised and reraised you're going to fold. Otherwise, you should be golden.

Final Round: I think it's a fairly easy bet here. The player yet to act didn't raise on the round before this. So, it seems fairly likely he isn't going to change his mind now. You might not get called by good opponents all that much, but it doesn't really seem like these opponents are that good.

Good.

If you ever think "I should check-raise the river" in TD, think about it about three more times before actually doing it. It's very rarely a good idea. This is an obvious spot to bet.

I thought (relatively) long and hard about pulling the trigger here and raising. If I thought there was a good chance D would fold, I would have done it, but he had proven resistant to folding after the first draw on previous hands. If my draw was a little smoother, I would have jammed as well, since even my 9 might be a winning hand so a fold + 3 bet wouldn't be so bad.

looks good.

Unless you know the guy auto-bets here I lead this like 95% of the time. Even more so if you think he's wary of your devious CR Habits.
