View Full Version : An actual TD 2-7 hand instead of the usual rambling

I really wanted to ditch the 8 here, but A and B were obviously drawing slim. Hopefully neither of them is hanging on to a 6, but my wheel outs may well be slim or dead.

I decided that, since E had not shown any strength predraw, he likely did not have a strong 7 draw. So I was in good shape against him, and the other two could probably be convinced to fold (although E did not cooperate with this plan when he improved.)

But I got a little nervous when everybody stuck around for the second draw. Being OOP sucks.

Value bet after the last draw? Probably not.

Nice hand. Yes, value bet, especially if you can fold to a raise.

I generally can't. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm trying to fix that.

I think that the best way to play almost any 8 or better on the river is fairly opponent specific. If he needs an 8 or better to call, you should check (especially if that causes him to bet smooth nines and the like). If your opponent is a calling station you should bet.

Folding here should be fairly rare unless the opponent is uncapable of a bluff raise. Folding here will definitetly make you a target for bluff raises. That isn't always a bad thing, but you have to consider it going in.
