I swear, between the Taco Bell posts, nachos posts and this one, OOT is responsible for the 15 pounds I've put on the last month ...

Hope the pie turns out well.

update: pie is in the oven. I'm happy with the crust, learned some things, dropped some things, sustained an injury but it should be good.

Just a guess.

I figured the injury would be knife-related.

How about pulling an oblique while taking a crap?

dutch apple has all those crumbly things on top while traditional is a two crust pie. two crust pies mean you have to make twice the crust, and the crust is the most crucial, most difficult part of making a pie.

instead, cut flour, brown sugar and cinnamon into butter until it gets to the consistancy of pea gravel. then top the apple filling with this and bake.

I don't like pie nearly as much as cake. But, I love the way my apartment smells like apples for about half a day after baking the pie.

So the pie is not in jeopardy?

DarkForceRising

I remember an olfactory senses study publicized about 7 years ago that determined men were aroused by the smell of apple and pumkin pie while women were turned on by the scent of black licorice and cucumbers.

Are you making the crust yourself?

When I used to live in VA my neighbor made me blackberry pies from scratch. She made the crust from scratch too. Doesn't get much better than that.
