I'm going to get flamed for this but whatever.

1. Barenaked Ladies
2. Linkin Park
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers

The reason I don't have any older bands on here is because I just started listening to classic rock the past year or so. I haven't really absorbed all the stuff by LZ, Metallica, Van Halen and the like.

i have tried to do this, but i have discovered i am utterly incapable of narrowing down a list of top 3. each favorite jockeying for position with this track, or that track, etc etc... just cant do it.

i could give a top 20 except there would be no #1-20, but just 20 awesome groups/bands/musicians/what have you.

but 3? this is damned impossible.

Good musician/songwriter. Heavily influenced by the blues. Very versatile at the same time, like Zep. You won't get the same "sound" like you would from a band like the Strokes. I can't stand bands like that.

He plays quite a bit of slide guitar too, which is cool. Meg White lays down a simple heavy backbeat, always pretty minimal but very effective. I really like her approach.

You'll probably like the last 4 albums, the first one is probably harder to swallow for a newbie. Elephant and White Blood Cells are probably the most accessible. All the albums are excellent and can be listened to the whole way through. No filler.

Me, too.

Talk about some sh*t you just cannot explain to other people. Damn.

But I really like it, seriously. And not just because it's just so damned hardcore. I actually like it.

And Pig Destroyer (if you've never) is worth a listen.

There's really something genuinely scary there, and the band is tight and sounds really good for the genre.

There are some things I just cannot seem to outgrow. I would rather it was Pig Destroyer, Old Man's Child, Swans and Scraping Foetus Off the Wheel than Journey, REO, Warrant, and freakin Poison.

So there.

3 Doors Down's first CD was good. Then their second CD came out and it was good too. Then their third CD came out, and that's when I finally caught on that they all sound exactly the same. It doesn't help that they played "Away From the Sun" every other song on the radio either.
