Good weekend so far, just a last second field goal by Clemson ruining a perfect weekend.
What I'm pondering for Monday night:
FSU +3 over Miami +106
and the under 40 @ -108
Throw the stats out the window as far as offense goes. The GT/Auburn game showed us what happens when inexperienced QB's meet good defenses, and both tags apply to both teams. The under 40 looks real good.
As far as the line goes, FSU is a very good program as far as breaking in new QBs go (the last 12 QB's won their debut). Its not entirely relevant, but its interesting.
What is relevant, however, is that the FSU running defense is demonstrably better than Miami's and Miami will need to succeed with the run in order to win this game.
What this means to me, is that FSU will rely on pounding the rock to win this game and take as much pressure off their new QB as possible. Miami, on the other hand, should find establishing a strong running game difficult, and therefore must rely on their new QB to pull them through. That could be a recipe for disaster.
All in all, this looks to be a close defensive struggle with low scores all around. FSU likely wins outright due to home field and superior run defense, but should cover regardless.
Just pondering....
