IMO, these are the 10 best NHL players ever who_______

i.e. it's up to you to fill in the blank

p.s. Once you have figured out the category, are there any others you would add to that list

Bobby Clarke is a chap that definitely belongs in that list

O.K. skp I think its time to give us a hint.

I've been trying to think of something all these players have in common and I really can't. They are all present or future hall of famers but why wouldn't Gretzky or Orr be on the list. Most have had Stanley Cup success but not all. Most were high draft picks except for the Richards. Some came from college, junior and Europe.

So I'm taking a big guess here but I think it's something like "the 10 best players ever who were not the best at their position when they played."

Something like that. Otherwise how could Gretzky, Orr or Howe not be on a "best ever" list.

Am I even close?

Nope.

Best 10, IMO, who played for only one NHL franchise in their careers.

I would think that Gil Perreault, Denis Savard, Brian Leetch and Mike Modano may also belong in the list.

BTW, I can't believe no one got the answer. Perhaps the category was just too obscure or perhaps, I screwed up somewhere and included a guy in the list who has played for more than one team.

Yes, now that I know the answer I'm surprised nobody got it either.

Denis Savard couldn't be on the list as he played for Chicago and Montreal.

Larry Robinson and Tony Esposito perhaps could be added to the list.
