I would push.

I'd push.

You arent going to hit many flops with your hand, but youre probably ahead of villian if he calls you here.

With your stack this short you cant pass up an opportunity like this.

i pushed, but i'm starting to think a check would've been smarter. there's no way he's gonna fold to my push, so why not see a flop first? i can then push after the flop where i at least have a decent chance of him folding if he misses on the flop. but there's just no way he's folding here to my push preflop, so i don't know if i should've done it.

I totally agree. That is the best argument for checking.

If you are committed to getting all your chips in with a small stack anyway, you have a much better chance of taking an uncontested pot if he completely misses the flop.

Checking is not unreasonable, but I prefer not giving villian a cheap flop when I'm probably ahead.

Also, what if the flop misses both of you and he decides to bluff?

You wont hit a whole lot of flops that you'll want to push all in with. I'd do it preflop.

But his M is less than 4 before he posts the BB. If he decides that he is getting his chips in regardless, then he probably has a better chance of an uncontested pot on the flop.

This is beside the point, but unless he lost the last hand to get him short-stacked, he should have pushed with any two UTG.

I would prefer check then push. A4 is ahead of nothing preflop. Let say he always calls preflop but folds 10% of the time on ther flop when he misses and calls 90% of the time reguardless of what happens. Waiting for the flop to push would be the better move then. Also he is unable to bluff you since you go first on the flop.
