A $3 MTT on Stars, starting field of 1023. 26 remain and I'm 26th with ~T17000 in chips. Blinds are 1500/3000/150.
Have just been moved to this table 2 hands ago, so no real reads on villain in this hand, who has ~T32000.
I'm CO with A /images/graemlins/heart.gif 3 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Villain is UTG and limps, it folds to me and I insta-push...... folds to villain, who tanks, then calls with 55, which hold up.
I made the push because I thought I had some FE here. At the time, I really only put the villain on KQ-KT, QJ-QT, JT, just not a PP or a better ace, as those had MOSTLY been opening for 2-4xBB in my experience thus far in this tournament. Add in the fact that I was Mr. Shorty, and I think this is an easy push, but I wonder if my thinking is flawed in any way.
Would there be benefits to waiting 5-6 more hands? I didn't think I was going to get a better spot, but I could have gotten a better hand. In this situation, is a push against another smallish stack to isolate the way to go about this?
