View Full Version : Fixed Limit in Colorado???

I'm new to the forum and although I have read quite a few books, am still a neophyte with respect to playing live. I have been up to Blackhawk a handful of times. The poker rooms I have played at are Hyatt and the Lodge. I know Central Station has a room that I believe is closing in a month or two.

My question is, does anyone know if there are any fixed limit games in Blackhawk? Everything I've seen is 2-5 spread limit or 5-5. This may sound stupid, but since I am still learning the game, I am trying to limit all of the "decisions" and I would really like to get in a fixed limit game. The spread limit plays for the most part like a 5-5 on all streets. Sure, sometimes people bet less than 5, but not too often. It just seems to me that the more I play up there, the more "bad habits" I may develop for playing in a "true" fixed limit game.

Any thoughts are appreciated. By the way, I did try to read the posts in the recent Colorado thread , and I don't believe this was asked. If it was, I apologize.

no casinos spread a structured game. it is all spread limit, due to the $5 max bet in colorado.

you are correct, there is barely a bet that isn't $5. but remember most people's raising standards are tighter than in a structured game. a raise to $7 preflop, usually means big pocket pairs or big suited connectors. sometimes AQo or AJo.

if anyone raises less than the $5, it usually means lower starting hands, so you can adjust accordingly.
