View Full Version : How to play when 3rd is the same as 1st?

Not a big SnG player, but I'm currently working my way up the ladder in the Aussie Steps.

My question regards steps 3, 4 and 5, where 1st through 3rd all get the freeroll to the next level.

How should I adjust my play here? For instance, if I get about 40% of the chips in play should I just shut it down?

How can I expect others to play on the bubble? How can I best counter that style?

Thanks.

If you have chips, I think you might look for chances to overcall against short stacks all in (4 handed) and check the hand down to try and eliminate them.

As if chips gained are less valuable than chips lost. The flatter the payout, the more true this is.

Interesting.

Can I interpret this to mean I must be much more confident that a bluff or blind steal will work before it is +EV to try?

Perfect.

Generally you should be tighter, but if your opponents are being too tight, you should still be aggressive.
