What makes someone a FF expert?

In all seriousness, where do these "experts" come from that you see on TV, Yahoo, etc. (not the ex-athletes and such)? Do they have some sort of credentials or do they just know somebody?

Most of them either started their own newsletter/website and latched on with a real media outlet. Note that most of them have just echoed their same bad advice.
