second thread in whats probably gonna be a lot
S was first (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=exchange&Number=3238415&fp art=&PHPSESSID=), and was a good success

looking for suggestions of albums i need to get

2 rules:
1. dont just name a band. name a band and albums
2. if the band is the artist's name, B must be the first leter of his/her first name. (like Billy Corgan)

heres what i already have.
thanks!

So your mp3 collection so far is BS?

Okay, add for the Beatles Sgt Peppers and Revolver, and if you like Strawberry Fields forever type stuff, 'magical mystery tour'.

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

And maybe some Burt Bacharach?

I'm gonna assume you're smart enough to realize you need the rest of the Beatles collection.

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - I See A Darkness
Ben Harper is a must, if you only want one album "Fight For Your Mind"
Bob Dylan - hits 1 and 2, or essential, somethign with hits is probably good enough (althougH I have all his albums)
Beastie Boys - check your head, ill communication, pauls boutique
boards of canada - music has a right to children
badly drawn boy - hour of bewilderbeast
Bela Fleck & The Flecktones - Greatest Hits of 20th Century
beth orton - central reservation
beta band - three eps
band - greatest hits
blur - parklife, best of blur

I'd recommend getting some belle & sebastian ep's (I also think they have some new compilation out or coming out that has a best of bsides or something)

Hopefully I'm not missing anything obvious

Bob Schneider
Lots of good CDs, just find one. Most of his concerts are recorded and then sold as cd's afterwards too, so you might be able to find some good ones like that. I have the dual cd from when he played at Antone's a while ago, on their anniversary. Very good stuff.

Billy Harvey - Pie
He's Bob Schneider's guitarist, and this is his cd. It's a weird kind of rock, but Dope Wings is an awesome song, along with most of the rest of the cd.

The Birthday Massacre - Violet
The Birthday Massacre - Nothing and Nowhere
It's pretty 80's new-wavy kind of music. The best description I've heard is a better version of Orgy with a chick singer.

Black Star - Black Star
Talib Kweli and Mos Def together. Nuf said.

Boy Hits Car - Boy Hits Car
Awesome metalish with Indian(red dot) influences cd.

Brand New - Deja Entendu
Brand New - Favorite Weapon
Really good music. A much better Taking Back Sunday kind of band.

Brandston - Send Us a Signal
Same kind of thing, with less angst. I saw them recently, and I kinda liked their old stuff. But this new cd was absolutely amazing live, so I bought it on the spot.

what kind of music is bedhead, beulah, big star, bonnie billy?

[/ QUOTE ]

Bedhead - is "slowcore". slow paced, hushed vocals "rock" songs. 3 guitars, bass, drums. intricate, pleasant, intense songs that take root in your brain. one of my favorite bands of all time.
You can find some Bedhead songs right here. (http://www.touchandgorecords.com/songs_videos/index.php#) I'd try More Than Ever from Transaction de Novo first.
Also, here are a couple songs from The New Year.
The New Year is the band formed by the core of Bedhead after Bedhead broke up. Both these songs are little more rockin/fast paced than Bedhead songs, but the instrument sounds and vocal style is very very similar. If you like these, you'll like Bedhead.
Chinese Handcuffs (http://www.epitonic.com/files/reg/songs/mp3/The_New_Year-Chinese_Handcuffs.mp3)
Gasoline (http://www.epitonic.com/files/reg/songs/mp3/The_New_Year-Gasoline.mp3)

Beulah - awsome indie pop rock.
Here's a song (http://www.epitonic.com/files/reg/songs/mp3/Beulah-If_We_Can_Land_a_Man_On_The_Moon_Surely_I_Can_Win. mp3) from When Your Heartstrings Break.

Big Star - 70's rock. You know the theme song to That 70's Show? That's a Big Star song (covered by some other band).
Third/Sister Lovers is my favorite, but they really should all be possessed by any lover of rock music.

Bonnie Price Billy - aka Will Oldham aka Palace aka Palace Music aka Palace Brothers. Folky rock from a wobbly voiced genius. Johnny Cash covered "I See a Darkness" (the song) on his album "American III: Solitary Man". Most people seem to regard "I See a Darkness" as his best album, but I definitely think "Ease Down the Road" is better.

Also, I linked those New Year and Beulah downloads from www.epitonic.com (http://www.epitonic.com). You should definitely check that site out.

Beach Boys Pet Sounds has been said and I agree. But you should also have "Endless Summer" (nice collection of mostly early singles--great pop fun) and Surf's Up.

Are you taking suggestions for things to get rid of? Cause I'd ditch the Bush album.

Good pick, but I would recomend Bad Brains s/t first.

Also some metal Bs:

Behemoth - "Satanica" - Great mix of Black and Death Metal
Beneath The Massacre - "Evidence Of Inequity" - New band out of Canada with some sick breakdowns
Black Dahlia Murder - "Unhallowed" - good melodic Death Metal
Bodies In The Gears Of The Apparatus - "Simian Hybrid Prototype" - Heavy Grindcore
Burnt By The Sun - "The Perfect Is The Enemy Of The Good" - good heavy sound
Bury Your Dead - "You Had Me At Hello" - Great bedroom moshing Hardcore
Burzum - "Burzum/Aske" - One of the most classic Black Metal albums ever

You will not like most if not all of these.
