Paying time for SS B&M games

a few local cardrooms in my area offer 3/6 but charge $3 every 30 minutes. they also offer 4/8 for $4 for every 30 minutes. that's 1BB/hr. there's no rake. is it safe to assume that, given the normal speed a live card game goes, it's almost impossible to consistantly beat the game given random opponents?

Think about it this way: if the game were raked, you'd be paying in the neighborhood of $3-4 per hand you win. Playing maybe 35 hands/hr, your probably winning a little less than average, like 2.5 hands per hour. So your maybe paying like $8-9/hr in a raked game anyway.

So in fact the time charge is better for you than the rake would be.

It's still a damn high hurdle to overcome. I think a 3/6 game charging $3/.5hr should be plenty beatable, though.
