Dan N. rebuys 18 times?

Watching the Costa Rica WPT this past Wednesday, they were talking about the unlimited rebuys for the $500 tourney. They mentioned that Daniel Negreanu spent $9000 on rebuys. I've never played a rebuy tournament but that shocked me. What is the most rebuys a tourney player has made? What is the average amount of rebuys a player will make. I always thought 2 maybe 3 at most.

At the Foxwoods Tuesday night NLHE, I've seen guys make 4 or 5 double rebuys.

You have to understand that these tournaments do not offer you a full chip stack for 1 rebuy. See Negreanu's column on the tournament at :

Personally speaking, my record in one tournament in 23 rebuys. It was a week I chose to "gamble it up" and played every hand blind with maximum action (ie, I would bet or raise at every opportunity) for the 1 hour rebuy period (of course, rebuys in this tournament were only $5).
