My first hand at the table so zero read.

2/4NL. Villian is BB w/$245. I cover. Folded me in SB (5 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif6 /images/graemlins/club.gif).

I call, VILLIAN raises to $8.

FLOP: 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif7 /images/graemlins/club.gif9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

I check, VILLIAN bets $9, I raise to $30, VILLIAN raises to $51.

While I'm taking my time debating my action (how much to raise) Villian types "thief."

I quickly push.

looks good. too many turn cards screw you over and villan has relatively short stack.

OK. Thanks. I called by J 10 then ridiculed by the donkeys at the table saying I should have "slowed down" and "gotta put him on J10 w/that action blah blah"

Donkeys.

What he typed was a pretty big tell. He would never give the impression he was re-stealing unless he had a very strong hand. Granted, I think I'm still getting stacked here.

push and if you lose, it's like set over set, whatever, next hand

Open-completing the SB is crap.

More, please? Are you just saying mix it up? I like to raise or fold in the SB. It's probably around 75R/25F for me these days.

I often will just complete good implied odds hands like suited connectors and small pairs in the SB against an aggressive BB because I don't want to get re-raised big with these hands (obviously stack size is an important factor here.) This also allows me to limp/re-raise in the SB which I find to be a move that gets NO credit whatsoever and is therefore very fun to do with big hands.

yesterday on the 5/10 6 max, i completed AA in the SB. BB made it 35 and i made it 100. I proceded to win 1k off JT on a T52 flop. word.

Word. I would have made it 150 though.

While I was reading the hand everything seemed fine until the end when you said he typed "thief". I used this months ago when I had a monster and wanted a call. I would've folded right away.

Yeah; "thief" means he has a monster, unless he's one of those cool guys who tilts really badly if you keep stealing pots but never does anything about it. Those people are funny. Anyway, strong means weak, fast means slow, red means blue. Something like that.

Yeah but who folds a flopped straight here against a battle of blinds? I understand the "thief" thing. If I had 2p or overpair or whatever I can see folding for sure but there's only 1 hand he can have that beats me (gotta rule out 10 6)...I mean really!

Forgot it was battle of the blinds.
