View Full Version : Delusions of grandeur ...

Private SPM brought a two-stack fire team to the front lines. The battle was being fought on the Fox River in Aurora, IL. Keeping the balance of his troops in reserve, the SPM's fire team fought with outstanding valor and courage. After two and half hours of fighting, the SPM and his troop of Chips captured seven stacks of prisoners. Rumors began to spread that he might get back his General's star.

A call came in from Head Quarters, and a Major Cautious encouraged the Private to return home with his captured Chips for debriefing. The SPM failed to heed the recommendation. A massive escape occurred during the next hour and a half and they called the SPM before a summary court martial. Unable to demote a Private, the Judges Advocates offices fined him loss of pay and 15 hours of physiological evaluation. They said if he had lost all seven stacks of prisoners, instead on just four, they would have shot him. Film at eleven.

Winning many early battles can sometimes create delusions of grandeur in the mind of a Commander. War is not a place to let your guard down, and letting prisoners escape because of poor restraints on a leaders judgement, is folly. Like the man says, keep your eye on the ball.

SPM,...still working on breeding hybrid unbeatable Chips, it may take longer than we thought...
