ive been playin hold em as a part time job for about one and a half years now and started playing 2/4 back in april 2004. i usually play on party and UB along with home games with friends and visit nearby card rooms (AC/foxwoods/local rms) occasionally. i have moved up from 2/4 to 3/6 to 5/10 and now at 10/20, and am up approx 16k-17k this past year and a half. i usaully get about 1-1.5 hours of play in every night, averaging about 30-35 hours of play a month. my question now is i have been beating the 10/20 game pretty regularly (about 70% of the time) and am considering moving up to 20/40. however, i am scared to blow my bankroll on a game that i shouldnt be in if i am beating 10/20 regularly. does anyone have the same problem as me? i know i can beat the 10/20 on the regular but i want to move up to 20/40 but dont want to risk my winnings. i understand that if i want to play bigger games i will have to take a shot eventually but just dont know if it is time to move up yet. any suggestions/questions is much appreciated...

Whenever you feel ready and confident make the leap. Set a stop loss if you don't want to go broke trying it. If you'll go on tilt and blow your whole roll taking a shot, you shouldn't be playing poker.

If you aren't sure don't do it. Playing passive at the higher level is a receipt for disaster. Do some soal searching, figure out what bankroll you want and what amount you are willing to lose, and when you are confident, move up.

BTW...In my opinion the 10 game vs 20 game isn't that big of a difference on the several sites I play. One other thing to consider is the 15 game. Can you move up one step at a time?

thanx for the replies
brett- yes, i usually play 15/30 live and 10/20 online for the past 2-3 months or so. that is the reason i want to move to 20/40 online bc i seldom play live, maybe 4-5 times max per month. what site are you referring to when you said the 10/20 and 20/40 are pretty much the same?
