So my phone is destroyed (http://128.61.99.133/2p2/phone.jpg) and I've got another year on my contract.

I want to switch services when the contract is up but that's another story for another time. I'm really just looking for something to hold me over til I switch to another service (most likely cingular).

Can I just buy another (used) phone off ebay and take it into the Sprint store and have them program it with my number? Also, anyone of the top of the head, what is the cost for this?

dunno what phones on ebay go for, but if I were you, id just break my spring PCS contract (which is like $150) and switch over to verizon and get a free phone. It will cost the same as getting a new phone from sprint, except now you wont have shitty service.

again, thats without the knowledge of what phones go for on ebay. if you can get one of rlike $20 or something, then I guess it might be worth it

I have verizon and I purchased a $130 phone for $66 on ebay. I was then able to add that phone to my existing plan for free if I did it on-line. They charge you if you take it into the store. I'm not sure about sprint, but I assume they have a similar procedure.

I did have to pay $36 in shipping costs so the total was actually $102. I still saved some money though.

Why the hell didn't you just attach this to the thread that was done on this earlier today?

Well that's what they charged me. $26 for the actual shipping and $10 for shipping insurance.

I realize I was ripped off on the shipping but I still saved money overall. Not much I can do, if that's what they charge I have to pay it.

My girlfiend has this problem with flip phones. She wedges them betwixt her shoulder and ear and stresses out the hinge.

Rubber bands won't work. CA (super glue) works for about a week.

If you buy a used phone, factor in the cost of a new battery because it most likely will be shot. New phones can be had at lostmyphone.com inexpensively. I sold my sprint phone on craigslist for $20.

And get a candybar style phone.

It's probably cheaper to cancel.
