I am running Windows XP Media Center 2005 and I want to create a separate user account for my daughter but I want to limit the programs that are accessible to her account. Namely I don't want any of my poker-related programs to appear in her desktop, program list, or start menu.

Any idea how I can go about doing this? Thanks.

Using your administrator account, right click on folder or file and select sharing and security. Deny access to the limited account.

I understand how to do that for folders containing files, but that is not an option on programs in the start menu.

I think if you run the group policy editor you can do all that.

Google group policy editor.

The items in your Start Menu are made up of the shortcuts in two folders: by default these will be

c:\documents and settings\YOURUSERNAME\Start Menu

and

c:\documents and settings\all users\Start Menu

Ensure all the programs you want hidden have their shortcuts only in YOURUSERNAME\Start Menu, and other users will not see them. Also change folder permissions as suggested above to restrict access to your Party, Stars etc directories under c:\Program Files\... to your account only.
