I was just discussing this with my friend. From what I can deduce, the two reasons you are following this line are:

1. It's a different line from the standard turn c/r, led river

2. It garners more respect for marginal hands in the future that want to be showndown but not for a bet on the river

What are the other reasons for it? Just curious because there seem to be a bunch of posts about it recently and I worry that you lose a lot of value when your opponent checks through or the same as the default line if they bet/fold the river.

I don't know how he has an A, and if he doesn't have one of those I don't know what he is betting except for a busted draw which there aren't very many of. I don't know, I don't think I really like it, hope it worked out for you.

I think this is an ok spot with a read, but I prefer a bet.

it's used if you think the river was what your opponent was fishing for. in many cases, yeah an ace. i use this very rarely. i'd rather bet out because i hate it when it gets checked through. but many times, esp in the smaller stakes shorthanded games, when you check the river and it's a loose/passive, they'll bet the river because they think you were bluffing the whole time.

Does villain like to bet? Does he like to bluff? Does he like to limp utg with an ace? I like to look for some river c/rs, on this board I prrrrrrobably wouldn't, I think a pair that checks is more than 1.8x as likely. (2 less the small number of times he bets and folds to the c/r)

i am the sexy and i make the sexy and in this case villain allowed me to make the sexy at his expense, as he bet and called my sexy to show QT. as much as i am sexy and would never begrudge one his or her sexy, i feel now is no good for sexy. better to bet/3-bet that river ACE and take the money and save the sexy for later.
