Single Rebuy Tournament -- rebuy immediately?

A local casino back in San Francisco runs tournaments that have an unusual rebuy structure. For $100+25 you buy into the tournament and get 1000 chips and a "rebuy" chip. At any time through the first four levels, the rebuy chip plus $100 gets you another 1500 chips. So it's really an add-on only tournament, they just don't call it that.

Do you recommend always buying the extra chips immediately, or should I save the add-on to the end of the rebuy period in case of a bad beat?

Rebuuy (or addon) immediately.. you want to maximize any potential double ups.. the earlier you have the chips the more they're worth. or another way of saying it, the more chips you have the less the addon is worth.

I always rebuy immediately when I play in that tournament. You're right, it's an add-on and not a rebuy. I play the tournament like a freezeout although some play it much more loosely so a lot depends on your table. But yeah, rebuy immediately since you're going to do it anyway and it's a good idea to have everyone covered right from the start.
