Is there anything I should do differently? I know you're gonna tell me to push preflop, which is cool, but since I didn't, how's my play otherwise?

push preflop, push the flop, dont wait until the freakin ace falls to push...

looks like you got greedy with a big pocket pair..

Why not let villain raise me with crap or make the mistake of calling with tempting but not good enough odds?

I'd check and fold after your flop bet was called. A nice bluff on the turn, but I don't think you have too much fold equity.

because the blinds are big enough that playing postflop poker is no longer necessary.

I might try to check raise this flop, check/check is not total disaster (Unless an ace or king falls) and a check raise might win me some chips when I'm actually in front.

Of course, I wouldn't be in this position.. but you know that anyway /images/graemlins/wink.gif

C/R does sound like a nice idea. I just almost never do it unless I am the one who called the raise preflop. People love to push with A-highs and stuff like that once ITM / HUP though, so it might be a good idea even with no specific reads.

I'm not entirely convinced of the superiority of just pushing every time you have ~10BB. Not saying that I know better, but I like to play flops from time to time with good hands against bad players.

Every other raise should be a push, making the smaller raise with your big pairs is just suspicious.

I know that, and I only make the smaller raises if that has been my standard raise in the previous hands. For example, if the blinds have just gotten bigger when I'm dealt JJ.

Push preflop. You are giving the guy pot odds to draw out on you, and that's precisely what he did.
