Taschen's erotica rides the fine line, but I still consider it erotica.

Roy Stuart is brilliant, IMO.

Erotica is printed on better paper.

And is usually more expensive.

There's no difference, just different terms. Anyone who says different doesn't want their "erotica" referred to as porn. I don't know why.

erotica doesn't have a money shot.

Erotica can be hung on the wall an appreciated as art. That is not to say you wouldn't consider running off a batch looking at it. Porn is more explicit, and often less erotic.

As long as "That is not to say you wouldn't consider running off a batch looking at it." is true, it doesn't matter where YOU would like to hang it. Someone else thinks it's porn. No matter how tasteful and subdued porn is, or how explicit and dirty erotica is, they are different words for the same thing. If it makes you feel better about soft-core porn to call it erotica, be my guest. I love porn in all its forms and don't care what you call it.

BUT JOHN ASHCROFT KNOWS WHAT YOU LIKE TO LOOK AT, MUAHHAAHAHAHA!

Feminists get to call the porn they like "erotica".

I just call it a "book" My wife reads these mystery novels with a lotta pipe-laying going on in them. If it cranks up the ol' estrogen, then go for it, I say.

Hey, I like mysteries. I like pipe-layin'.

Any good titles to recommend?

I actually took a class in my undergrad called "Porn in the USA."
Erotica and porn are on a continuum so there are definitely some gray areas. But key difference is why the thing in question was produced - if it's for artistic reasons, then it's erotica, but if it's produced as a good, to be consumed, then it's porn. In general, erotica tends to be more implicit and porn is explicit. Erotica is often written or painted, porn is videotaped or photographic. There are definitely some blurry lines, but that's the gist.

Erotica - A storyline that happens to revolve around sex.
Porn - Sex that barely contains a storyline.

A lot of people will say the difference is one of explicitness. I disagree.

I feel the line you can draw between porn and erotica (and it's a fuzzy one,to be sure) is mostly one of intent.

Porn's main goal is to titilate,to get you off. Period.
While Erotica can do the same, I think there is also an artistic intent in the making of it. The makers of Erotica are tying to do more than get you off- they are trying to express themselves artisically through their chosen medium.

Anyway,that's my two cents.

'Erotica' generally doesn't have enough buttfucking in it

Erotica- Skinimax type stuff/non-sexually explicit (some explicit) artwork. Also, penthouse letters type stuff falls into some people's definition of erotica

Porn-Ya know
