View Full Version : Poker players will focus

Photographers of poker players will not.

(..I mean, is there an explanation why every picture of a poker player is out of focus, in every magazine? It's not like they are running or moving about either, they are just sitting there, trying to stay stone cold still. Even on the covers for christ's sakes!)

Cyrus,

I think it's because most poker players have ugly faces.

Ugly faces or look ugly to scare opposition?

Cyrus,

You must mean pan shots of a card room. The only players in focus would be a mock table in the foreground of players that are actually card club employees. Actual customers are deliberately put out of focus.

I think this is done because many customers don't want the outside world to know they are in a card room. Sort of like trying to find out if your significant other is in the local bar by calling the bartender.

The cover of Poker Digest with Benny Binion. For instance.

And all the pix of the winner of this or that tournament, holding up money wads or chips. (Chips're in focus.)

scalf,

When you come back from your trip I don't want to hear sad stories on how you did not get any hands to play.
