28.5 hours to go.
50bb in the red.
Its almost dark.
I cant find my sunglasses.

I think I can get as many as 5k hands. This would be my first month in the red so I'm putting up a fight. Anyone else in?

How about a "finish the month unstuck from your 100 BB downswing over the last 2 days" challenge? I'm down for this.

Unfortunately, I have 4 1/2 hours until I have to stop playing to get sleep before my surgery tomorrow morning. So, I'm renaming this the "run extremely well challenge".

Count me in.

Actually, I'm renaming it the not get your ass handed to you challenge. I'm getting so sucked out on and outflopped it has stopped being funny.

That I did.

I'm still over 4 bb/100.... doesn't mean it doesn't suck though. What I'm more concerned about is that it may be making me change my game. I really hope that isn't happening, but I'd find it very hard to believe I haven't missed some bets.

Edit: I just double checked, and I'm actually down 150 BB's in the last 2 days. Also, my winrate is now in the 3.5ish range.

about 950 hands in and down to -85bb on the month.

This is the lowest I have ever felt in my poker career. Cutting back to 2 tables for a bit and taking a few more seconds to think about each hand. Trout seem to be everywhere tonite, having a hard time getting on good tables.

25 hours to go and still fighting...

TheMetetron

Operation luckbox in full effect.

150 BB downswing, cut down to a 80 BB downswing.

Continuing operation run hot. More later.

tables keep breakin and im having a hard time finding a new one. Still stuck about 90, almost 1300 in. Found some psycho lags but no cards to take advantage at all.

23 hours left

Found some of my favorite LAG's all at the same table as well as one solid TAG(prolly a 2+2er). Getting ok cards that are getting run over by 2 outers on every turn & river. -30BB & counting in 1 hour.

Whats your goal wack and where ya at?

Focus still good, stickin with 2 tables yet, lots of up downs, 75 BBs to clear yet.

My goal was to make 20BB tonight. I haven't taken nearly so many bad beats + bad lucks(having AQ in the BB vs button steal who had AK!) in many weeks. Instead of making my 20BB tonight & not playing tomorrow, I'm down 60BB and about to go to bed & try to pull it out by midnight 8/31! I still can't get over the amount of bead beats I've taken tonight & the amount of bad play I'm seeing at a single 10/20 table.

My original goal was 15K 10/20 hands by 8/31 with a winrate of 1.5BB/100 or better. I have had some terrible swings and only made 10K hands and after tonight I'm hovering near break even. My first 5K i ran about 1.75BB/100. The last 5K have been slaughtering me. The worst part is that all my PT stats are right where I want them playing 10/20, all except the BB/100 & W$SD%.

TheMetetron
08-31-2005, 04:00 AM
Yeah the $10/20 play has been really crappy tonight. Dunno what's going on but after running like crap, I'm running super hot today. I'm only down like 40 Big Bets over the last two days, after a trough of 150 BB's.

you all are weak

for no immediately apparent reason, when i woke up on monday, say around 2pm cdt, i decided to set a challenge for myself of 20K hands by the end of the month. Thats right, TWENTY THOUSAND in less than 3 days. After the first 5K i was down something like 140BBs, finished that session with around 7K hands and dead even. Now, im 13K hands into it, and up lots and lots of bee bees.

I RULE YOUR CHALLENGE.

Dont 3bet this out of position. Why on earth would a preflop 3bettor raise without at least a K on this turn? You dont even have the nutflushdraw.

Focus on these kind of misstakes instead of your bankroll.

One of the main reasons it is mentally hard to play poker month after month, year after year, is that is pretty hard not to see how much money you win/lose every day. If u lose $3000 in a day its hard to not think about what that money could have bought you. If you think about your bankroll as real money - or if u use your bankroll to meassure your daily/weekly/monthly sucess - you will not last as a pokerplayer.

I agree with everything Kiddo says. I think this is a really bad challenge because nothing you do can ensure you achieve it. Your putting your happiness on the roll of a die.

I appreciate your point. This is just a pointless attempt to take something positive out of what has been a horrible month. I don't reccomend it and don't rationalize it as anything other than obstinance but it means something to me to put up a fight.

I agree with you to a certain point. Our society is based on a end game and even more so on a month to month basis. Sports are usually refectled in seasons. Our monetary life calculated mainly on a month to month basis. Sales targets, production quota's, cable bills are due once a month.
To try and reprogram ourselves out of this monthly measuring stick is unrealistic and maybe even wrong. I agree get away from the daily flucuations. But if you have put in a month of losing I think you better sit down and reavualte your game because you haven't been playing well(not that you shouldn't be always doing that).

Good luck Transference in getting out of the hole. Right or wrong way to think it is a good boost for your confidence. If not you can kick but next month.

Once I go pro, I will likely never have a losing month. That's because I'll be playing so many damn hands. Some people don't play enough for their month winning to be a reflection of their skill vrs their luck.
