View Full Version : A message from Zeus...

Fighting broke out early in the second millennium of the Hold'em Wars. The battle fields were littered with lost Chips from poorly thought out battle plans. The supply Officer Captain Dealer was as busy as crocodile in a wildebeest crossing. The supply Officer has the thankless job of trying to please every Chip Commander on the field of battle. The SPM raised the steaks with Big Slick as his army of Chips marched forward with positive expectations. The big blind an Athenian Commander with tons of fight and not an ounce of brains defended his position with 32 double suited. He had received a message from Zeus telling him to defend the position at all cost. The turn saw a mighty Ace and the river was a respectable King, but the SPM Chips had pressed the attach to far and they were crushed by two duces that flopped early in the battle. The Athenian won the skirmish with trip ducks. It was a great game and all great games humble those leaders who fail to see the forest for the trees.

In war everyone doesn't fight by the same rules of engagement. Some remarkable things can happen when one under estimates his opponent's mind set in battle. When the ducks hit the flop and the SPM's Chips kept advancing with nothing, the thought of trip ducks was there. This Athenian would fight to the river with just a pair of duces, when he raised the level of fighting on the turn. The SPM conveniently ignored the obvious and sacrificed more brave Chips. The senseless slaughter of your army of Chips will always be just around the corner when you ignore your opponent's mind set.

SPM,...hey doc can you get this bullet out of my head...

But in a previous hand early in your session, I noticed you sacraficed a raised pre-flop pocket pair, for the sake of your chips which were still behind enemy lines. The pot had become HUGE and a greedier commander would have sent more chips to slaughter. Patton would have been proud.
