View Full Version : Was I right to put my opponent on a stone-cold bluff?

Background information:

I had played four hands on this table including this one:

The first, I missed a 12 out nut straight draw and lost about 1/3 of my stack.
The second was ATTK with a T suited to the A.
The third was AAK6 with an A suited to the 6.
The fourth was AAJ4 with an A suited to the J.

The second I flop a set of 10s on an uncoordinated and win a big pot.

The third I flop garbage and end up folding to heavy betting.

And here's the fourth:

I had not shown down my previous previous hand and I had raised aggressively pre-flop for three hands in a row, so I figured my opponent was making me [censored] or get off the pot.

I ultimately put him on a bluff because I had the J and could not see another logical holding with which he could have called my raise and still be ahead of AA.

Since Bison Bison is being a prick:

Nope, no reason to put him on a bluff. Fair chance he'd even do this with bottom two pair if he knows you have AAxx. You'll see sets of all shapes and sizes, and clearly he doesn't think you can get off an overpair. Be happy you at least had 6 outs.

At the $25PLO tables at PP I see very little bluffing. It seems to me that when people bet heavy like this they tend to have it. I understand what you are saying about calling the raise, however, I think that you are giving these players too much credit. I see people calling raises with any pocket pair and hoping they connect with the flop.
