Anyone notice that this guy is on pace is not only break, but demolish a record that's stood for 85 years?

The three best marks since 1900 for BB/9 (minimum of 162 IP) are Babe Adams in 1920 (.6160), Christy Mathewson in 1913 (.6176), and Brett Sagerhagen in 1994 (.6598).

Currently Silva is at .4294 (!!!) with 175 IP.

That's amazing. Why is his WHIP so bad then /images/graemlins/frown.gif

This is 2005, not 1968. His WHIP isn't bad.

He has given up 192 hits in 173 innings. Anyway, a 1.15 WHIP in the American League is pretty good.

If you're not walking people, it's probably because you're throwing strikes. And if you're throwing strikes and you don't have unhittable stuff, you'll probably give up more hits.

as a twins fan i can tell you that silva is awesome. he threw like an 80 pitch cg earlier this season. he works fast, is fun to watch (because he doesn't walk people) and goes 7 innings or more every time. what's not to love?

I have him on my fantasy team, and I'd like to officially ask that the Twins try and score more than 1 run/game for him. Thanks.

Especially if you're a GB pitcher. He strikes out no one and gives up a lot of groundballs, which turns into a lot of seeing-eye singles.

The walks record is amazing, but honestly it doesn't do a whole lot for me. What the Silvanator does do for me though is win me a Six-pack in my bet with my roommate over who would have the lower ERA Silva or Radke. Silva's up by about half a run and Radke is running out of starts to make it up. I can almost taste the brewskis.

In the AL only Halladay, Santana, Harden and Colon have better.

Oh, and The King if you are going to count his 36.1 IP.

By the way, 2 of his 8 BBs were intentional, so he has only 6 unintentional free passes all year.

Actually it was a 73 pitch complete game /images/graemlins/smile.gif
The Twins have more starting pitching then they know what to do with. I can't wait for the days where Baker and Liriano are in our rotation too.
