View Full Version : Bubble hand question

08-29-2005, 12:14 PM
Sorry, going to have to explain the situation from memory, don't have the HH.

Comments on all aspects of the hand are very welcome, but my main question is whether or not to call the all-in from the BB when I'm sure I'm way ahead, or fold w/ enough chips to hopefully wait out and ensure ITM finish.

$11 PP SNG
4 Players left - I have in SB ~t2700, BB has ~t3700, and the two others have ~t800 each.
Blinds 50/100, 1 or two hands from going to 75/150

UTG & Button limp.
I'm dealt 55 in SB, I call.
BB checks.
Flop: 258 rainbow
I check, hoping to get on of the small stacks to bluff the pot with over cards/top pair if it checks to them.
BB bets 100
UTG & button fold.
I raise to 300 (right play here?), BB calls. Pot is now t1000.
Turn is 7.
I bet 400. BB goes all in.

I figure I'm almost certainly way ahead here.

If I fold, I'll have between 1900-2000 chips, and the Huge stack of the chip leader should whittle down one or both of the other small stacks soon.

If I call, I think probably facing either top pair or a straight draw, with the straight draw being much worse (8 outs if outside).

How do you play it?

FYI, I called, and he turned over 84, for top pair and a straight draw. Caught is 6 to knock me out. Woe is me /images/graemlins/smile.gif

(By the way, should I be posting on the beginners board instead?)
