Anyone in MS or Louisiana? Anyone near the path of Katrina? I'd be curious to hear updates from anyone sticking it out...

This assumes that people close to the path are going to be with power, which is a pretty poor assumption.

They probably have power right this second. Second being the key word here.

At least one webcam is still up; it looks windy and rainy, but not too bad so far.

Burbocam (http://www.nola.com/bourbocam/)

The video for the streetcar cam has some trees, useful for gauging the wind speed.

"BourboCam is currently unavailable due to Hurricane Katrina. Please check back soon, or visit our other webcams."

Streetcar Cam is up, though, as is RiverCam. I haven't tried any of the other ones. There's not a whole lot to see in a cam that's updated every 10 seconds in the dark.

Was that a bunch of crazy lightning?

Yeah, the main burbocam is down, but most of the other links on the page are still up. Beadcam shows large beads of rain, but none of the boob-attracting kind (thank goodness).

Are those flashes in the background lightning? I saw the worst storm I ever saw last weekend and I thought the lightning then was crazy... if all that flashing is lightning all I can say is HOLY [censored]

Beats me; I think the flashes on the streetcar cam are just the light breaking through the trees. The other cams may actually be lightning.
