Villain (T6000)
BB (T3000)
Payouts: 65% for first, 25% for second, 10% for 3rd.

(Blinds 200/400)

Pre-flop- Villain calls 400, I call 200 with 9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif 10 /images/graemlins/spade.gif. Big Blind checks.

Flop- 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif 9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif A /images/graemlins/club.gif

I check, Villain Bets 600, I call

Turn- 3 /images/graemlins/club.gif

I check, Villain Bets 1000, I re-raise All-in (2400)

Anyone like how I played this? Or is traping at this stage the wrong move.

any reads on the villain? Will be semi bluff with clubs?

Prolly has an ace or is trying to run the table with his stack, I like the play.

Slow playing trips is fine when it's just 3 handed (and only two of you in the pot). I wouldn't really be too worried about the flush unless there were 4 clubs on the board.

Hopefully he didn't make his flush...

My play is, as soon as the bigger stack makes a bet on the flop, push. This is a great opportunity to double into the chip lead, but with a weak set you're happy to get the villain's bet and the blinds and roll on. There is an obvious flush draw and you have to defend the pot.

The two most likely holdings by the villain are some ace with maybe a club kicker or a club draw. With an ace he folds most of the time, likewise with a club draw depending on what the BB does.

The only hand you really fear is a better 9, and if he has A9, you're going broke. No preventing it at any stage of the hand.

I think waiting until the third club is on the board is too late.

With the size pot, I like the push after the flop bet by the villian. You are either going to win a pretty fat pot and be the chip leader or be ahead in an all-in situation. 2 clubs and 1800 already in the pot - push.

I like the push after the Villain flop bet move. Although I think slowplaying it is an effective move, I think given the current size of the pot (T1800) your main objective is to take it down. Even if you get called, you should be ahead more than not.

BTW, do any of you think that the prize structure affects the play of this hand?

I agree that the flop push is the best play. If the prize structure has an effect on the play of the hand, it would be that you would be looking to take the pot down on the flop, by letting villain see the turn, you allow a hand like A2 /images/graemlins/club.gif to pick up 8 extra outs on you. I will try to run the math on this to see if I am right, forgive me if it is off. I am obviously assuming that you will be called when you move in. I will also do the math with villain holding 8/images/graemlins/club.gif 7/images/graemlins/club.gif (giving villain over cards with a club draw only improves his chances of winning by .5%), and A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 8/images/graemlins/club.gif.

Pushing Flop
8800*(.875)-4400*(.125)= T7150, when villain holds A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 8/images/graemlins/club.gif
8800*(.773)-4400*(.259)= T5381, when villain holds 8/images/graemlins/club.gif 7/images/graemlins/club.gif

Pushing Turn
8800*(.773)-4400*(.227)= T5803 when villain holds A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 8/images/graemlins/club.gif
8800*(.227)-4400*(.773)= -T1403 when villain holds 8/images/graemlins/club.gif 7/images/graemlins/club.gif

Hope this helps.

If there are 13 players, are there really 13,400 chips in play?

I was wondering the same thing. You think that extra T400 could have a big influence on the play of the hand? ie, if hero only had T4000?

" there are 13 players, are there really 13,400 chips in play"

Think coloring up chips, not racing them off
