I have come to hate this hand. I get this more than any other 2 card comb. I was at the MGM in Vegas and over the first 20-25 mins I must have had it 7-9 times. Online I get it alot and lose with it.

I know it depends on if the other players limp or where my seat is but anyother help would help.

It's just a bad hand. Nothing beneficial unless the flop comes with two 8s.

Depends if its suited or not... if unsuited I would barely play this hand in a full table, except for stealing blinds. Short handed I would play it more often, depending on the players at the table of course.

If you don't know how to play a particular hand then your best bet is to fold.

yes. For unsuited its only good for stealing blinds really. I would also defend against a blind steal from a loose player with this. If it is suited and the table is loose passive, limp in in early position. Basically I think you need about 4 others in the hand to make it profitable preflop. So whether you limp in with it should be dependant on that. If you are in late position I would play it in tight game, and raise it in a loose game. I would also be more inclined to raise this in a passive game as I will be able to get a freecard. If In either game I have only one limper, then I would also raise and try to get it shorthanded.

I'm actually ahead .04BB/100 with A8o. I hate AJo. I'm -.09BB/100 with that turkey.

But to answer your question, unless it's suited, you almost always fold A8 preflop from any position.
