Actual sleep. Maybe you woke up and rolled over and fell back to sleep again, but that's it.

If you're one of the ones who've slept for several days I want to hear your stories.

This is seriously way too many categories on the higher end. No one sleeps that long ever.

That said, I've knocked out 18 hours many many many many times without even being that tired. I believe 24/25 hours was my longest.

27-30 hours after a fortnight in Ibiza - anyone who went there
in the late 80's/ early 9 0's will know why I needed so much sleep when I got back! /images/graemlins/cool.gif

I did a full 23 hrs. once. It was a 5 day canoe trip in the boundary waters. That's in northern Minnesota on the Canadian border. We ran into a few storms and ended up having to portage quite a bit more than usual. After getting back to the trucks the goal was to drive the gunflint trail and then head south and grab a late lunch in Duluth and then head south to the Twin cities. Well my genius of a buddy decides he can cut some time off by going some shortcut that was really nothing more than early 1900s logging roads. We Buried a truck and a jeep in 3 feet of mud and had to hike to a lodge and get someone to help us out. This cost us a ton of time and energy.

So we end up in Duluth at 9pm instead of 1-2pm. I parked my truck at the radisson. Skipped the 'late lunch'. I checked in and ordered room service, ate half a steak and potato, had a shower and was asleep by 10:30 or so. Woke up 9:30pm the next evening. There were a couple of drowsy, sleepy trips to the bathroom, but other than that ... total slumber for 23 hours. The [censored] genius doesn't get to navigate anymore if I'm on a trip.

I'm pretty sure I knocked out 24 hours after being up for like 2 and a half days straight...

I can sleep 12 hours a day no problem normally, even if I'm awake for only 16-20 hours afterwards...

21 Hours, after a three day stretch of no sleep, 15k hands logged, and lots of prescription medicine I didn't belong on... Yikes, I didn't play poker for a week and a half... bad idea.

Where are the under 15 hours options?

I generally always sleep about 3 hours a night, and take a couple short naps during the day. But when I was younger I had an interesting experience. I had never really recalled a dream up until I was about 20 years old. I remembered having them -- I even remembered some of the details when I woke up -- but it was all a blur after just a couple of minutes. Then I read an article about how B12 helped people remember their dreams -- so I went to the health store and picked up mega-doses of B12 and B Complex (which I was told I would need to make it work). It worked like a charm. It was so much fun that I slept for the next week.

43-46 hours. During HS I rountinely woke up at 6AM. I stayed up all night and went to some hot springs in the Northern Cascades at like 12 or 1 AM on saturday. I got back to my house around 9 AM on Saturday and slept until Monday morning for school.

edited to add: this is the only time I ever slept that long. My next longest is probably just under 20.

My roomate in college did the 35-38 hour range a few times. We had gone to the movie theater and they were giving away samples of vitamin C candy that tasted more like candy than vitamin C. We caught one of the ushers slipping and he left his big sample bowl alone, so we dumped it into my friend's backpack.

For the next few days we just constantly ate vitamin C candies. Our dorm room was covered in the little wrappers.

My roomate would go on stretches during that week where he would just sleep for a couple days. It may have been longer than 35-38 hours because I think he had a couple stretches like that. It got so bad that we made a little sign that said "Caution: Hibernating Bear - Do Not Disturb" and hung it over his bed. He woke up while I was standing on his bed to hang it but just sort of mumbled and rolled over.

The times he did wake up it was to grab a handful of candies and play some video games and then he'd pass out again.

Someone later mentioned to us that vitamin C can make you drowsy. His sleep schedule made more sense after that.

So you would stay up for 27 hours and then sleep twice that long?

[/ QUOTE ]well, that has only happened once. I have stayed up oer 24 hours a few times, but usually I would only sleep around 12 hours after doing that. Me sleeping that much was definitely very strange for me.

About 30 hours. Preceeded by an ~80 hour session of poker, and a quite dangerous 1 hour drive.

I haven't slept for 10 days, because that would just be too long.
