View Full Version : Frustration of Losing entire Bankroll

08-27-2005, 01:06 PM
I have literally lost 1700 dollars in two days at the 5/10 tables at Party Poker. This is not even playing more than two tables. This is the second time something like this has happened where I will run my bankroll up to around 2000 then piss it away in two to four days. This is crazy. Anyone else had this happen to them?

1700 is not a bankroll for 5/10.

And the fact he doesn't know this means that he should be directed here (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=begin) and here (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=micro) .

To the original poster: many beginners do this because they think they're much better than they are. Maybe you're not the rank beginner that your post seems to suggest you are, but if your experience at poker is "running up $2k at 5/10 and then losing it" you should seriously consider the possibility that you should move down limits and start seriously studying the beginner and micro forums to learn the fundamentals of both poker play and bankroll management.

$3000 is considered a bare minimum nowadays. If you're playing six-max, make that $5000.

Whats a typical 5/10 bankroll man.

uw_madtown answered also. $3k would be a bare minimum, but it's too risky. $5k is about right.

Sweet, alright thanks for the input. I will consider going to 3/6 or 2/4 for awhile.

Alright thanks Justin and Madtown. Sounds like 5000 grand is the number to have before jumping into 5/10 again.

If I had 5000 grand I don't even know what I'd do but id probly go to 2000/4000 and lose it all /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It's not just about the number. It's about being a winning player. I have a 1000BB bankroll for 5-10, but I play 2-4 right now. I'm learning, and when I'm ready, I'm going to 3-6 when I know I'll be winning 2+BB/100.

I'd say learn how to play well, then win, then play 5-10

Good point Hip. That is also why I want to go down to 2/4 or 3/6 because, I am positive I can beat those games because most of the players in those games are horrible. It is so hard to stay at those lower limits because I have been playing 5/10 for awhile now. It is so tempting to move back up.

"it's so tempting to move back up"

Is it so tempting to lose your entire bankroll again?

Buy SSHE. Buy Poker Tracker. Log 10,000 hands at 2/4.
