Hi Granny,

I understand you didn't like the tone of one of my posts (ironical) and I want to apologize to you.

I just want to say in my defence that I know how tough the gambling world is and I find difficult believing that someone who seems to have the kind of experience you have, can believe that everything and evereybody is just plain honest. I know that it was a big chock to me to find out about human real nature.

That being said, I only want to be friends with everybody and hope you will forgive me if I was out of line.

Wishing you the best of lucks,

William /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

william,

first of all, thanks for apologizing, but it was not necessary. my response to your post started with me conceding that there most certainly is collusion online.

however, i might be the most naive person in the world, but i really do not know any friends that have 2 accounts at paradise. maybe they are all not telling me this, and i am a laughing stock in their eyes, but i felt that your post almost encouraged people toward setting up a second account because "everyone else does".

i DID get a little pissy in my response, because i want to beleive that you are wrong and i am right. this makes me sleep better.

all i know of with 100% certainty is MY situation, and my spouses situation. we both are totally honest and above board. when my screenname is being used for spouse to practice in a smaller tourney at paradise, i MAKE SURE it is typed in chat that "this is not the regular granny". perhaps i am deluded in my beleif that 99% of the online players are honest.

i have only one screename, and am a lifetime winner at paradise, and a lifetime winner at every site i ever played except pokerstars. therefore, i know that i can succeed by maintaining my integrity. your original post suggested things that are my biggest fears. if i felt that you were correct about everyone having 2 screenames, i would quit online poker today.

again, thx for the apology, but it was not necessary. this is a discussion board, and that intercourse (yes, intercourse) is what this forum is all about.

good luck to you. your other posts have all given me the impression that you are an ok guy. however, i hope that if you have 2 accounts at paradise that your eyeballs explode and you slowly bleed to death.

take care

Granny,

Thank you for your kind reply.

I just wanted to make one point clear; I don't have several accounts anywhere; I do have different nicknames in different sites, so I hope your curse doesn't apply to that as I am very found of my eyeballs and I don't know any exorcist /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

You take care as well,

William

i'm glad to hear that, but then you are a case in point that it is NOT common. i also have 2 sites that i don't use Granny for, and that is perfectly acceptable, and even a smart play.

no hex for what you describe here william. and if you are telling the truth, then i thank you for restoring some faith.

be good kiddo

<snip unimportant portion>

First off, Paradise Poker allows only one real money account per player. This has been our policy since day one. We go to great lengths to ensure the integrity of our site as we continually strive to provide the safest and most enjoyable online poker experience for our players.

Given the fact that players in an online environment are not sitting within sight of each other, this inherently gives rise to the added possibility of collaboration between players. Our Security Department is very aware of such a real danger to the integrity of the game and accordingly has put in place several measures to help guard against such abuses.

Specifically, our Security Department makes use of the following preventative measures:

1. Tracking IP address and matching historical playing patterns. This flags and determines if certain players historically play on the same table.

2. Player trapping monitoring. Historical hands are automatically reviewed and if a weak hand was involved with raising and re-raising with multiple players it is flagged and forwarded to security.

3. Strong hand folding. If a player folds a strong hand before the flop such as AQ when another player has AK it is flagged.

4. Any player that reports a suspicious hand, it is thoroughly reviewed by our security dept. Security will also review the historical hands of the players involved. It is this ability to see every player's entire history that gives us the incredible ability to combat collusion better than a brick and mortar card room.

There are also additional automated features that I have declined to mention, given that making such measures public would essentially defeat their purpose . While we devote a significant amount of our time and resources to combating collusion, we are aware that, be it in a real casino, or in an online casino, unscrupulous players will continue to try and compromise the game. Given this realization, we have adopted a strict no tolerance policy for players that are involved in what so much as amounts to a suggestion of collusion. If a player is involved in such an incident the account, and all the related accounts, are immediately closed, cashed out and the player is barred from opening another Paradise account. We are under no illusion that in order for us to be successful we need to grow our client base and have positive word of mouth, this could never be accomplished if the games were not conducted in a totally fair and honest environment.

I have reviewed the players you mention and without divulging too much personal information, we are confident that each account is used by separate individuals. We candidly note that neither are winning players and show absolutely no tendency to sit with one another (less than 2% of the time during the last 14 days).

We realize that rumours will, from time to time surface on online message boards and that flames will be fanned by misinformed individuals. We encourage anyone who has a question or concern regarding our integrity to contact us directly and we thank you for doing so.

Once again we thank you for your e-mail and as always we would appreciate any comments that you may have.

Best Regards,

Chris,

I'm glad you're satisfied. I didn't wanted to start a witch hunt: If paradise is satisfied, and so are you, let's live it to that. especially as it is now officially allowed to have a non playing friend, wife, brother, child, etc... open an account on your behalf.

You didn't seriously thought that one could open an extra account using the same name?

Please let it rest. To my knowledge, no harm has been done by that particular player, and if he enjoys playing under another nickname on weekends, who cares? He doesn't even hide it!

Some time ago an incident occur between a player and Paradise, (sorry, no details), nothing really serious and no big amount involved, but several persons were witness that the player was right. 5 or 6 e-mails were exchanged between this person and PP, solving nothing. The truth is that a site cannot admit a failure in theyr security, they could risk loosing all theyr coustomers. They will probably do something about it, but they won't admit to make you happy. Rather loose one customer than 10.000, don't you agree?

Like it or not, money talks !

Take care /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

What a great response! I say this as I had a much different response from another fairly popular poker site a few days ago. Heres what happened in a hand i was involved in and questioned.

I am dealt pocket 10's and am up against an unknown and a total maniac who has been doing some very strange plays. I wasnt sure what was up but he dropped three grand in an hour so i wasnt complaining much. Well in this hand the flop came uncoordinated jack high and it is bet and i raise and it is reraised. Turn I dont remember now but nothing cordinating the board. Maniac bets out, I call, unknown raises and mainiac reraises and I have to fold. River is a blank and maniac folds to no action and Unknown takes down pot!!! /forums/images/icons/mad.gif What the hell. I emailed support and they responded someting like this:
Unknown had AK giving him no pair, Maniac had 55 giving him a set of 5's. I can see where this may look like collusion but since everyone folded Im sure it was just a disconnect.
What? The player who folded to no action didnt time out, he folded right away and it didnt sit him out. I replied with a rather more heated email and asked that it be bumped up to security if there was such a thing at this site. What a joke.
