View Full Version : Dealing w/ the fish when you have AK

The fish have been pulling out this play quite often and I don't know what the best line to take.

Let's say it's level 3, you get AK in the SB w/ ~700 chips with 2 MP limpers. You raise to 150, the first limper folds, but the second, who has you barely covered goes all-in.

Now this guy has a medium pair 80% of the time and some suited connectors 20% of the time.

Do you fold? Do you call? Why?

How is folding even an option?

Edit: I thought it said level 2. If this is level 3 and I have t700 with 2 limpers, I'm pushing AK from the SB 1000% of the time. My God, at this point, the pot is 1/4 of your stack. Easiest push ever.

Since you told us his cards, this is an easy call. I think it still is even if you didn't, given your more general read.

In a way, my question is if I want to take a coinflip here or not, that's all.

Level 2, level 3, it doesn't matter.

But why not push pre-flop and maximize your FE? I guess I understand the question stated in your post, but do you really raise to 150 and face hard post flop decisions OOP rather than push and probably add 25% to your stack?

I'm not trying to be difficult, but not pushing here is a big mistake (IMO), rendering your question irrelevant.

Okay, but that aside, of course I call the push.

Ya I thought this was a joke at first...I mean come on I only play the 22/33's and knew this in a heartbeat?

See, the key here is you are NOT always a coin flip here. At this level you will get called by A10, AJ, ect.. and have him in trouble in alot of cases. EASY CALL

I can't answer cause I would never put myself in this position.

If you wanted to win this preflop, I wouldv'e raised more or pushed.
If you are trying to see a flop, you are already pot committed.
If you are trying to get him to come over the top then you did.
