Tourny started with almost 1500 hundred players, down to 329. Villan has been very LAG and pushing his chips arounf bulling table. I have come over the top on him twice in the last 20 hands or so and he's laid down his cards.

My thinking here was I've been seen as TAG and my limp would most likely lead to just me and the BB, where he would try to knock me out of the hand with any two.

Did I mis play this?

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 8s, 8d.

I felt that this was a great flop for me and was the favorite here and he wanted me to lay down the better hand.

Sometimes you just know your beat and you have to lay it down. Poker is about everything else but the cards.

Why do you think I'm beat here?

Even LAGs get hands; he's raised you, called your reraise (limp-reraise always smells of AA to me but he's not worried) and reraised you postflop. The only hand I can conceive of him doing that with, that you have beat is AK, but I suspect he has you crushed.

With me already committing 50% of my chips,is folding an option? Or should I have folded this pre flop?

To have a real shot at winning isn't this the type of player your trying to double through?

No. If you put AK & AQ, 77-44 out there probably not.

I don't think that's an option, raising for a semi blind steal would be my preference (depending on how you and the table are playing). If I was reraised I would lay it down (admittedly you had a read on the BB), but I don't want to play for all my chips with 88 unless I have <10bbs, and only then from LP. Remember, you still have a very solid stack. If I was called, then on that flop I'd make a 3/4 pot bet - again folding to aggression, especially if it came in the form of a check raise.

I believe you're right and it's a weak-tight leak in my game that I'm trying to do something about, I just don't think this was your best option. Wife & kiddies are away this weekend and I've entered the $1m GTD, $500,000GTD & $200,000GTD so I need to plug it now.
