After dropping $200 at 2/4 last night on a bankroll that was well short of 2/4, I have dropped clear to .25/.50. I could easily deposit the rest of the $1,000 I had earmarked as my poker bankroll, but this is a matter of pride at this point. I will not be depositing any more money, I'm going to punish myself and rebuild it from scratch. 600BB per limit, starting at .25/.50. Humbling, yes, but then we all need it sometimes.

This is how I play overcards. Opponent is a complete unknown but I tagged him as a nit for posting UTG+1.

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (8 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif, K/images/graemlins/club.gif. UTG+1 posts a blind of $0.25.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG+1 (poster) checks, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG+1 calls.

Flop: (5 SB) 8/images/graemlins/club.gif, J/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, UTG+1 calls.

Turn: (3.50 BB) 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, UTG+1 calls.

River: (5.50 BB) 2/images/graemlins/club.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, UTG+1 calls.

Final Pot: 7.50 BB

I feel this board is relatively safe and that I'd hear from a better hand most of the time, at which point I'd release my KQo and move on. Does anyone slowdown on the river? If we check, call the bet? Instead of the flop action specifically or the river, I'm looking for anything anyone would do different. This is my standard line with overcards on a particularly safe board. Comments or concerns?

I check/fold this river. What do you think he's calling you with?

A gigantic bag of fold equity.

Seems like we've seen several UI over posts this afternoon.

Usually I'd prefer flop bet, turn bet, river c/f here. There aren't a lot of busted draws out there for him to be chasing and it's hard to use the river as a scare card here.

I will sometimes do this myself. I think it's a leak. I think I check/fold the river.

I guess it's just that tendency to believe he'll fold for one more, as many people are wont to do, plus the tiny but notable chance that king high is the best hand right now.
