Like the title says, am wondering if I am too aggressive when the field is still reasonnably large. Flame away!

Even though you're UTG, I think you have to push 88 there.

Note: FWIW, I just ran it through SNG PT, and it says it's a +EV push virtually regardless of whether everyone has loose or tight calling standards.

this is a clear shove, and its not really even close. i get lots of 6ths too. happens. you were ahead, you had dead chips in the pot, what more do you want? holla

isn't it pretty well accepted that good SNG players get a lot of 6th place finishes?

sweet, i've been getting 6th places all day long...
hell i get more 6ths than 1st, 2nd and 3rd combined!

j/k, I agree though: although i'm just starting at the 11s, i've found that when i try to hit ITM, i get a lot of 3rds and 4ths, but when i'm winning the most money, i'm getting 6th a lot. FWIW, i think it's b/c i'm trying to avoid getting blinded away and build a chip lead...

In this hand, i love the fact that the chips are evenly distributed, that should prevent a lot of KQ, KJ, K10s from calling... I'd assume the hands to worry about are: AK-A10, AA-99 (obviously)... not too many hands out there that would be justified in calling this bet.

I my first month of serious SNG playing, I have also noticed that I get a lot 6 places. But as long as your play is correct, I wouldn't worry about it

if the table is tight (only call with AQ+/TT+):
0.774*1425+0.226*(0.35*0.55+0.65*0.19)*2400=1274.3 484
so push is right

or if the table is semi tight (call with AT+/88+/KQ):
0.59*1425+0.41*(0.40*0.55+0.60*0.19)*2400=1170
close

if the table would call with A7+/44+/kq:
0.444*1425+0.556*(0.32*0.55+0.35*0.19+0.13*0.75+0. 19*0.81+0.01*0.5)*2400=1298
so a push

so somewhere between, a push is a bit -EV.

flame on!

Thanks everyone for replying. My feel at the table was between tight and semi tight (referring to the ranges you mention). Glad I made the right move.

probably the right time to try to be a little bit ahead of the short stacks, and anyway ICM says that any PP above 33 would show a nice +ev over there, so , close the eyes and shove....
