This sounds a tad greedy, but I am REALLY missing out on a great opportunity to cash this month (I need plane tickets for Florida!)

ITM finishes.....11.3% 1sts, 19.3% 2nds, 16% 3rds

Previous to this month, there were MUCH more evenly distributed.

I spent a couple days reviewing ITM games, and found that it wasn't losing coin-flips. I have turned into ONE HUGE PUSS on the bubble. I get there in great shape, then take a nap waiting to get HU - ultimately EXTREMELY outchipped.

So...I "went for 1st", and went push/raise crazy in my first game tonight as kind of an experiment. I know there are quite a few, but if you could PLEASE tell me if this in the ballpark IYO.

THANKS!!!

There were a handful of 'no-brainers', but I'm looking for a sanity check on these nine:

What buy in?

This is what I would do but not sure if it is the right move.

Would have to know table image of opponents and yourself, etc. But in general, here goes:

1. raise to 600, fold to reraise except call wicked's if he pushes
2. push
3. easy push
4. fold or raise, depends on BB
5. easy push
6. push
7. fold
8. call but not sure if right
9. easy push

The problem that I have with this strategy, is that sooner or later someone will have a hand (JJ or greater, AK, maybe even AQ) and call you. Now you are left hanging.

I much prefer pushing a solid rise 3-5 times BB in these situations. If they come over the top, you take a deep breath, fold, but you are still alive.

You also fail to provide context. How were the other players? Were they scared to make a move - trying too hard for the money?

Finally, what stakes are you playing and where. I do believe that this strategy works better at some places than others.

To simplify my thoughts - push, but leave yourself a back door. You are better off losing half your stack to a great hand than all your stack.

Thanks 1C5,

Yeah, I got thinking about the 'particulars' - probably not so cut&dry without the background information. This was a $25+2 turbo on Stars. Both were pretty solid. Ben was a little tighter than Wick. Wick did most of the calling, but I ran into genuinely call-worthy hands with him /images/graemlins/frown.gif

BB is 600 by the end, you want to raise to 3000 and then fold to a reraise? (That is 5x the BB).

That is terrible.

Hey, Blue
I agree with all your plays except the 75h and I'm not being results oriented. With the BB at 600 and his stack at 2800 I think he's gonna open up his range of calling hands a lot more, especially since you've been aggressive. Every once in a while I give the BB a free ride and I think this is the time to do it. I think given stack sizes and your hand this is -EV. Besides that, I think all your other play was fine.

These are all easy pushes. If you have to ask about some of these, you probably aren't pushing ENOUGH.

#5 you could do the standard raise of 1200. That's better versus aggressive opponents who might reraise you with QJ or whatever.

I don't like #7, otherwise all look standard to me.

Looks good to me. I like all of them.

You could play hand #5 differently because you have more than 10x the BB, but if you did then you'd open yourself up to a reraise from the other big stack, so I think it's ok.

#7 is definitely good unless he's calling around 50% of his hands, and very few people will open up that much.

Are you really happy getting reraised here, even if you know he'll do it with QJ?

Assuming that you'll get reraised by more hands than will call you if you push, would you rather be all in against those hands or have them fold? My guess is fold, but I haven't run any numbers..

Yeah, you're right, I ran the numbers and you need to be a 62.1% fave before you want the allin, which surprises me, I thought you'd be better off shooting for first.

I'm not a big fan of the A7o push, but generally I think all of these are fine. Most of them don't seem close to me.
