View Full Version : New Movie Reviews! :)

"Ocean's Eleven" ain't much, although it was kinda cool seeing all that star power on the screen at the same time. As Rick Charles said, the poker scene is laughably bad.

"Vanilla Sky" is OK, but it trys too hard to be philosophical and deep. And it falls vastly short of "Memento" in the "what's real or not/fractured timelines" race. NOTE: Penelope does go topless in one scene...

There are two extensive reviews of "Ali" on espn.com, but the upshot is that the real characters and events are so amazing & riveting(even to this day) that no actor or script could come close. Great casting, though, and thankfully Ferdie Pacheco(Paul Rodriguez) has no lines. IMO a much more interesting movie would focus on the three Ali-Frazier fights. Former middleweight champ James Toney bears an amazing resemblance to Joe(although he's MUCH smaller) and he does quite well in a brief out-of-the-ring scene w/Will Smith.

"A Beautiful Mind" is gonna sweep the Oscars next April; Best Picture, Director, Actor, Supporting Actress, Supporting Actor(either Ed Harris or Paul Bettany could win), Adapted Screenplay, Makeup, etc. Russell Crowe is amazing & Jennifer Connelly finally got her big breakthrough role. WARNING: There is probably a MAJOR spoiler loose(likely unintentional) in most reviews/articles/posts I've seen, so don't read any beforehand, and for God's sake don't post any afterwards.
