This smells like a mid pair frightened of seeing a flop to me, or just perhaps AK, but the times you'll be shown the mid pair make up for that. Shove.

look at it this way, when would you feel dumber?

a) when you fold and he shows J3o

b) when you call/push and he has aces

I don't think he has AA here. How has he got the +180 chips? Was it with a mid pair and if so how did he play it? If not, what was it with. Key points but even then I can't believe this is AA or KK. Why would he play it like this? Unless it's the old reverse psychology, but even then he's relying on someone picking up a relative monster for it to work - and that just doesn't happen often enough.

What a strange raise. You say Villain hasn't gotten out of line....what about the players behind him, especially the blinds? Have they been really loose preflop? I'm just trying to get a sort of roundabout read here.

At the 22s it might not be a horrible play with AA, I assume some will call this with AQ+ or TT+.

Really? I think 275 smells like a mid pair. 500 is just bizarre. I can't remember ever seeing someone open raise 10BB on level 3 for 40% of their stack. If someone wanted to fold QQ here, I really don't think I would argue with them. I certainly couldn't though /images/graemlins/grin.gif and was promptly shown KK. Anyway, this situation doesn't come up often enough to change one's results one way or the other.

Why would someone push half their chips mid-pair with only t75 in blinds to steal hoping not to get called?

There was only one explanation: AA or KK hoping to get called by AK or QQ (or some loose nut). It's a play that we discuss often making at the lower levels because of the chance of a loose nut calling you (pretty good).

I can't see any reason to call in this situation unless you have a read on the Villian. Just chuckle to yourself, hit the fold button, and move on. What did he get away with if you do and he had a crazy hand? t75? Whoopie!

This is completely different, totally standard, and results oriented.

Haha, be less helpful. But I think this situation definitely comes up enough, especially at the lower buy ins.

thats pretty standard. You have no choice but to go broke there. OP certainly has a choice, although I dont think I could avoid it either.

In my whacked mind (after writing too many posts today) it suddenly came up that it is good to feel less dumb. And I would feel more dumb if I called and lost than if I folded and missed doubling up.

not very helpful, I agree....
