Hopefully this isn't as painfully obvious as it might be (great sentance, I know)

Shouldn't it be a fold? I can't find any reason to call there.

I'd fold. If your Q and backdoor flush were completely live I MIGHT call, hoping he has just jacks, but there are so many ways his hand could improve or could have already improved that leave you drawing real slim.

Unfortunately, it is. A pair of threes? I know you know better.

Actually if you put the villan on a loan pair...It's very close.

I did fold btw

Folding fifth is simple...his broadway cards are live, his pair cards are somewhat live and if your fantasy of him having one pair is true, he is likely open ended or gutting with it so he has a redraw. Your runner runner flush chances arent worth much...just get the hell out if you like money.

I think this is a pretty easy fold. You have a lousy pair of Treys, a couple of diamonds are out, and the pot is small. Even if you turn your Queen into an Ace, I think it's pretty dubious.

And guys, it's "lone" pair. I don't even know what a "loan pair" would be.

so he can have TWO PAIRS. /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gifA DRY pair is one pair that is not to be loan to another player.

That definition was even funnier than Jon’s subject.

I'm Risking 18 to make 36 (effective odds)..this assumes I always pay off on the river even when I don't get a 2 pair.

So for the Js and Qs example you can eek out a small profit

Too bad you are getting you ass handed to you when he has the Ks

Jon, this is an interesting post.. That is, when is it correct to chase when there were others contributing $$ to a pot that drop off the hand on 5th street. I think if the pot was raised on 3rd, it would be a closer decision.
